The Villa has been constructed in the 1700's by Count Passalacqua who had been granted the property by the Odescalchi - a Northern Papal family. The floors are antique and a mixture of Cotto Lombardo, Seminato, and old dark wood, while the ceilings are ornate, decorated and beautifully carved.
To maintain the taste of old times, the Villa is filled with beautiful paintings, sculptures, rugs, tapestries and Venetian chandeliers.
The wrought steel main entrance opens to the access area where a large marble stair leads up to the second floor with all its 8 spacious suites, with private fully equipped baths.
At the left of the entrance, there is one of the two oval shaped dining rooms, with 16 marble columns and the most important neoclassical fresco of the Villa, right above the dining room table. The second is the "Tuscan Dining Room" more casual and filled with vintage Tuscan furniture; there is also a separate sitting area with a marble fireplace, television and gorgeous views of the lake and the mountains, just perfect for relaxation.
At the right of the entrance there is a large and airy double kitchen equipped with subzero refrigerators and wine coolers, Viking and Gaggeneau ovens, grills and ranges, 4 disposals, 2 dish washers, a vegetable and fish steamer and a fryer. The counter tops are made of Verona marble and the cabinetry is richly decorated in hand-carved wood. The most prominent feature of the kitchen are the two 8 foot high stone fireplaces that are the Villa's originals.
There is also a Billiard Room with a hand-carved English Snooker table, a movie room with a large screen and quality sound system for guests wanting to stay in. Next to this room lies what for many of our guests is the favorite room: the Pizzeria. It is a large, casual room, with a massive fireplace and an antique brick "pizza and focaccia" oven that is original to the Villa. Last but not least, as children are welcome in Villa Bianca, there is a large playroom in the back garden next to the kitchen; it is a wonderful outdoor play area with a beautiful wooden slide, swing set and rope climb.
First floor . There are eight suites, all unique and beautiful, with high and carved ceilings, antique floors and spectacular bathrooms. The rooms are filled with antique furniture, Persian rugs, Venetian chandeliers and beautiful art. Some of the bathrooms have Philippe Starck designed wash basins, bathtubs and W/Cs, while others have antique French and English large trough bathtubs and ornate wash basins. Two of the suites have an additional bedroom and one of the suites has two. A fitness area with stereo system, television, weights, Glidex, Stair stepper, Punching Bag and numerous exercise DVDs, has also been installed on the floor. In total, the Villa Sleeping 22.
The gardens of the Villa Bianca are considered to be some of the most historic and beautiful of the entire Lake Como. Guests will enjoy the fresh flowers that come from the Cutting and Rose Gardens. There is also a large Vegetable Garden and Orchard, so that our guests can enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables during their stay with us.
The Swimming Terrace is spectacular. The terrace is filled with lemon and olive trees. The views of Lake Como from the Swimming Terrace are stunning and this is the warmest part of the garden. Overlooking the swimming pool is Saint Agatha's 12th century bell tower. There is also a beautiful 200 year old greenhouse on the terrace. 11 working fountains complete the garden of the estate, adding cool freshness and sound to the hot summer afternoons. The dock area is filled with roses, creeping jasmine and oleander. We have two boats docked here that are available for rent.
Included in the price are all utilities and the maid service. We have bicycles, tennis rackets and other sports equipment on the property that are here for our guests to use as they wish.
